Meet the Assistant Principal
Suzanne Cicala is excited to join the Joseph George community and looks forward to working with all stakeholders to support the ongoing success of the students. Ms. Cicala has over 25 years of educational experience as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator. Ms. Cicala believes in establishing shared values and high expectations, as well as, empowering students, parents and colleagues in leadership. She is also highly dedicated to creating high-quality learning environments that develop the whole person and the greatest potential of every child.
Prior to joining the Joseph George team, Ms. Cicala taught second through fifth grade. As an instructional coach, she collaborated with teachers from kindergarten through eighth grade on implementing a rigorous balanced math program and in using standards-based assessments and grading. Ms. Cicala was also an elementary school principal for eight years. During that time, she established her school as one of the first Bay Area Leader in Me Schools, which received the recognition of Leader in Me Lighthouse Status and the 2020 Santa Clara County Hoffmann Award.
Ms. Cicala believes that the arts are a critical component of a well-rounded education. In her previous district, she was a member of the district's Arts Committee and was the district’s Visual and Performing Arts Mentor. She worked for the Bay Area California Arts Project as well, training teachers in how to implement arts lessons in their classrooms.
Ms. Cicala completed her M.A. in Education Administration and Supervision and her teaching credential at San Jose State University and received her B.A. in Dance from UCLA. Ms. Cicala is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
